International Women’s Day!

Three great guest speakers from Ancaster Senior Achievement Centre, impressed a large group of Community Members on Friday, March 6th. Recognized world-wide on March 8th, International Women’s Day has gained increased recognition over the last several years and aims to eliminate discrimination against women and focus on equal participation in global development.
All three women were professionals within their chosen careers and interests, and strove for equality within male dominated fields. Dr. Wilimena (Helmi) Kaufmann was a local Veterinarian at a time when women didn’t become vets; from a very young age, Shirley Glauser was a Baseball Coach & Umpire, and Sylvia Parr was an active leader within the Agricultural Society. Today, all three women have major roles within ASAC and the community at large, and prove age is just a number, and that all genders are equal in the workplace! Helmi, Shirley and Sylvia demonstrate it’s never too early or too late be involved with the things that matter.
